COVID-19 Notice

Our office hours have changed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Dallas office is staff Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Patients are being seen in the McKinney office only on select dates. Only patients with urgent needs are being seen in person in the office. All patients are required to wear masks if being seen in the office setting.

Telehealth visits are ongoing, and patients have been very pleased by the convenience of these visits. A time for the visit will be scheduled, and Dr. Sutker will contact you, typically within 15 minutes of your allotted time.

As always, anyone with an emergency or urgent needs will be handled expeditiously. There is always a physician on-call, so do not hesitate to contact the office at 972-464-2880 with any needs. Routine matters may take longer for a response due to the pandemic. We appreciate you being flexible and understanding due to the unpredictability of the COVID-19 crisis.

About Michael Sutker, MD, PA

Bariatric and general surgery specialist Michael Sutker, MD, PA, opened his practice in 2014. His practice, with offices in McKinney and Dallas, Texas, is one of several surgeons that form Surgical Consultants of Dallas, LLC. Dr. Sutker enjoys a collaborative working relationship with his associates. He is board certified in general surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS).

Dr. Sutker was born in Plano, Texas, and graduated from Plano Senior High School. Dr. Sutker grew up in a medical family as his father is an orthopedic surgeon and his uncle is an infectious disease doctor. He received his undergraduate degree in Plan 2 Honors from the University of Texas in Austin and his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his general surgical internship and residency training at UT-Southwestern. He then received fellowship training in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the University of California-San Francisco.

Dr. Sutker maintains the highest levels of accreditation and pursues ongoing education to stay abreast of the latest trends in the medical field. He participates in regular continuing medical education and attends local and national conferences to stay abreast of new research and surgical techniques.

Dr. Sutker is a member of several professional organizations including the Dallas County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, American Medical Association, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and the Obesity Medicine Association.

Providing Minimally-Invasive Surgical Techniques

Dr. Sutker specializes in using minimally-invasive techniques to treat general surgery conditions, mostly using robotic-assisted laparoscopy. His expertise has made him Medical City Dallas’ Medical Director of the Robotic Surgery program. Dr. Sutker has received specialty training in surgically treating obesity, esophageal motility disorders such as achalasia, gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD or acid reflux), inguinal ventral hernias, and para-esophageal and hiatal hernias. He also has extensive practice at emergency general surgery that manages acute problems like appendicitis, diverticulitis, cholecystitis (gallbladder attacks), and bowel obstructions.
